Wayne Stineman Lockard was a well-known distributor of gasoline and oil. Beginning in the early 1930’s, Wayne Lockard was a consigned agent delivery heating oil for the Atlantic Richfield Company, and later for Gulf Oil.
Born October 9, 1909 in Homer City, he was the son of Arthur D. and Mary Ellen Stineman Lockard. His family was engaged in several farming-related enterprises. He married Betty Mae DeBonney of Canton, Ohio, on March 14, 1931. Betty operated a beauty salon in their home on Water Street in Indiana. The couple had two sons and a daughter. During his life, Lockard was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lodge 931 of the B.P.O.E., and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
After Lockard’s death on March 22, 1961, in Bellevue, PA, the company became Wayne S. Lockard and Sons, Inc., and continued under the operation of Lockard’s sons Bernard and Larry.
