Born in Saltsburg on January 21, 1917, Ralph McKay Lytle, Jr., was the son of Dr. Ralph Lytle and Grace Augusta Robinson. A graduate of the Kiskiminetas Springs School, he studied at Colgate University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1939. Following graduation, he studied at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.
During World War II, Lytle served in the US Army medical administrative corps. He attained the rank of major. Lytle married the former Jane McQuilkin. The couple had four children. Active in the community, he was a member of the Lions Club, Lodge 313 of the F & AM, the Coudersport Consistory and the Jaffa Temple of Altoona. He had served as an elder of the Graystone Presbyterian Church of Indiana. He was the former owner of Robinson-Lytle Funeral Home. He died in Indiana on January 11, 1989. A long-time funeral director, he served many families at a time of need.
