Rev. Dr. Frederick W. Hinitt was a prominent Presbyterian minister, educator, and college president. During his distinguished career, he served as president of both Centre College and Washington & Jefferson College, where he was recognized for his leadership and commitment to higher education.

In 1918, Dr. Hinitt became pastor of First Presbyterian Church and quickly became a respected figure in the Indiana community. He also served with the YMCA and the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I before returning to Indiana. Dr. Hinitt remained active in religious and civic affairs until his death in 1928, leaving a lasting legacy in education, ministry, and public service
