The Elkin Mausoleum, an emblematic structure in Indiana, PA, underwent a significant restoration spearheaded by the Oakland Cemetery Association. With origins tracing back to its inaugural construction in 1915, this mausoleum stands as a prominent emblem of history.

Its creation was commissioned following the passing of Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice John Pratt Elkin and was skillfully built by Pittsburgh’s esteemed Colwell Granite Company. Originally intended as a sanctuary for generations of Elkin descendants, the passage of time led to the dispersion of the Elkin family by the early 1960s. In a benevolent gesture, the mausoleum was then bestowed upon the cemetery association, becoming a lasting testament to its bygone era, much like it was in the year 1916.
